Monthly Statement:
January 2006
Total Bag Count: 1,475
Monthly total: 247
134 black - 102 white - 11 color

I have pushed on with bag collection in January despite not having a game plan for how to rework my accumulation in the coming 6 months. January's yield is now being stored in a stack on the bedroom floor alongside December's stack. I am always amazed by how long I can co-exist with piles of things before real organizing must take place.

After taking up residence in the living room for almost one month my exhibition "Bag Monster", as it is now being called, was relocated by my housemates to the roof of our building (see images). I came home while the process was already underway. An intervention? I had hoped its daily presence would be a good incentive to experiment with different presentation ideas. Hmmmm....I must say it was a relief to see it hoisted up and stowed away. I followed behind collecting Bag Monster's bag droppings which were many.

Process: I am accumulating all plastic shopping bags left on the street that I encounter each time I go outside. A record is being kept of how many bags are accumulated each day for the course of the project year. For each plastic bag I accumulate I will create one reusable canvas bag.
