January brought in eight mattresses, many with defining stains. Partly, the fewer numbers was due to colder weather, but I also went to Portland, Oregon for a week where mattresses just don't abound the way they do in New York City. I did find one West Coast mattress, though, but spotted it at 60 mph on the highway... alas, no picture was to be had.

Process: I will photograph discarded dreams in the guise of used mattresses found in the trash during my daily travels about the city.
