November 2005, Month 3

No photo documentation this month. The piece is 8-1/2 feet long, has 303 barcodes and white, black, white striping on its spine. It will be good to see it exhibited in December and view how the striping is beginning to look like a barcode.

I am finding the process difficult. It is quite tedious to process the barcodes because I have to do this practically every day. Only three months into the project and I am feeling drowning in barcodes that will not stop until September. I am ready for the next stage. I must continue to collect, but in December and January I will enter the data from my logbook into the Excel spreadsheet and start to interpret what I have.

Process: I plan to collect every UPC (Universal Product Code) barcode acquired through my activities of the day, each day for a year.  These products may be purchased by me or given to me.
