This month I made a new 8' x 8' collage in my new studio on 133rd and Fredrick Douglass Blvd. I used posters of Jack Johnson, the first black heavy weight champion of the world and posters from the Ultimate Fighter TV show as well as posters for the TV program Miami Ink. I used at least 20 of each of those posters for the piece and collected them from the streets over the course of several months. The picture with all the posters laid out in folders details what will be another 8' x 8' collage that i should have finished before the end of March. I have a show up at the Rush Art Gallery in Chelsea that's entitled "God Complex-Images of Power" which runs through March 25th. Process: I will gather advertising posters from public spaces (as many of a specific kind as possible) and create collages from them.
